Happy Friday! Here are some things bringing me happiness this week.

1. Deception Pass State Park in Washington

My parents came from California for a visit and so we all hopped in my neighbor’s van and drove up north a little bit to check out this small gem of a place tucked inside Washington’s Puget Sound. The bridge that is pictured above connects the mainland to Whidbey Island. Less than half a mile walk takes you from the bridge to the shore down below. It’s just beautiful.

2. Voxer

I’ve fallen in love with this fun little chat app. I discovered it when I was invited by a friend and fellow writer, Emily, who also happens to be from Seattle, to join a group of writers to share notes and encouragement. I love it because it combines the best and eliminates the worst of phone and text. I’m not much of a phone or text person, but I like this because I don’t have to carve out a chunk of time to devote to a phone call, and I don’t have to spend the time trying to type out what I want to communicate in a text. Yes, I’m kind of lazy when it comes to texting. I feel much more free to keep in touch with people, especially as a mom of young kids who doesn’t have chunks of time to talk on the phone. Go Voxer!

3. A Few Good Reads

A Mom’s Search for Meaning by Whitney Galstad

Fighting Soul Fatigue by John Ortberg

Please share with me what’s making you happy this week in the comments! I’d love to hear. Have a great weekend!

  2. I read the article, “Fighting Soul Fatigue” the other day and thought it was so good! I definitely find myself in that place too often.
